In this blog update, we will be telling/showing you how we’ve packed and more importantly showing you what we are taking with us an why.

So anyone who owns and uses a camper van will know that its crucial to pack everything you require for the trip you are planning, also its important not to take anything you don’t need or won’t use because that’s just a waste of space and weight you don’t need to carry. Space is a premium in Eddy and as such, needs to be packed properly. We utilise all the storage areas fully. Kitchen storage, Wardrobe, Over Bed Compartment, Under Bed Compartment, Under Seat Compartment, High Top Space, Front High Top Space, Rear Cargo Boxes and Roof Rack. Whilst this seems a lot, we will need to travel relatively light. Eddy also has a large underslung fresh water tank but we have never used it for drinking water, only really washing up or showering if wild camping etc. In an effort to save a bit of weight, we won’t be filling this this time around. We are staying at campsites this trip which will all have full facilities.

On this trip, we are intending to cook and live out of Eddy as much as possible on this trip so we will be using all cooking facilities on board and the additional items we have packed

Cooking and Food Equipment; We have the usual, built in Gas Hob, Sink and Fridge along with a Kettle, Toaster. Winnerwell Fastfold Oven, This is a great bit of kit and really works well. Portable Gas Burner, This is mainly used for the Winnerwell Oven. The heat produced by the oven makes the inside of Eddy too hot so we tend to use it outside in the awning. Portable Induction Hob (obviously electric, save our gas when on a campsite, really handy bit of kit), Cob Barbecue, Great as a compact BBQ one of the best things we have purchased. Jet Boil, Again a great bit of kit, very fast to boil water for tea, pasta or noodles etc. Espresso Machine and Milk Frother. Goes without saying, great for the latte first thing, very important. (I am a bit guilty of wandering aimlessly if I don’t get my morning coffee). 😂😂

Food and drink; We tend not to carry a lot of food, particularly perishable food stuffs. Just really butter, cheese and bread maybe in terms of perishable food. The non perishable food we will be taking is Coffee pods for our (we need a morning coffee) ☕️. Soft drinks, we have a portable water carbonator we use for convenience. Snacks etc. We have a 10ltr drinking water supply too. Most other supplies will be purchased as and when needed en route.

Bedding; Eddy is equipped with a Rock n Roll Bed which easily folds out when needed. We use the existing cushions in conjunction with a 2.5″ bespoke mattress topper. Our bed linen consists of a decent quality duvet, pillows and a throw cover we actually use as a sheet to cover the mattress topper. A photo of this is below.

Clothing and clothes storage; Eddy is as you can see a pukka camper and as such has decent useable storage. In terms of clothes, there is a main wardrobe unit which has front and rear partitions. The front one is primerally for jackets (usually we have two jackets each to cover all possible weather scenarios). The rear partition is shelved and is ideal for all other clothes. There is also a handy over head compartment above the bed which is excellent for clothing.
